5/8/2007: Jessica was notified that hers was the winning essay out of thousands of entries and YES I read everyone! Boy, was it a tough decision! Growing up my mom was the cool mom who planned old school birthday party games and cool treat bags - my friends still talk about the birthday parties my mom organized!!
She was the mom who made homemade bread and cookies every week and had a supper made every night for the family to sit and eat together.
She would play board games with me and talk for hours with me.
My mom has always rocked.
But since my son entered the world 12 weeks ago I have realized my mom is more than just my mom. More than just my friend even. I realized that my mom is a strong support system. My mom is like a solid and reliable rock in my life. She is full of ideas and advice, but she doesn't throw it at me. She waits till I ask. She has told well wishers who have tried to give her advice to pass on to me about the baby that she "will not pass on advice to my daughter. When she needs to know something she will ask."
I love that my mom doesn't try to live my life or plan my life for me! She is an encourager - a cheerleader for my life.
I am so blessed to have her as my mom!

2007 Mom Rocks Contest

How do I enter? Tell us in 250 words or less why your Mom Rocks. It can be a list , an essay , a paragraph, a story.....It is really up to you. Submit your entry by e-mail at mymomrocks@designing-diva.com on or before May 4th. Please include your name and telephone number in case you are the winner. Don't worry your information is safe and will not be sold, rented or shared with anyone!

What will my mom win? If your entry is chosen, your mom will win jewelry valued at $250 from Designing-Diva Jewelry just in time for Mother's Day. The winner will be allowed to choose from 3 jewelry design sets that have a retail value of $250.
