While I love the look of Australian Opals, they are a soft and porous stone and you have to treat them gently. I'm kind of rough on my jewelry so I created my own "faux opal" with aqua colored glass and dichroic on top to give it that opal irridescense. (the bottom layer is chocolate glass)
